Intro to College Art

About this Course: 

This week-long, Intro to College Art course spans over 30 hours of immersive training. Throughout the week, we’ll cover a lot of ground. To name a few of the exciting topics we’ll explore:

  • 2D and 3D studio experiences
  • Walking tours of art museums and galleries
  • In-Person discussions with UW-Madison faculty and MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) candidates
  • Introduction to campus life
  • College portfolio preparation

2D Studio Experiences areas of discovery:

  • Woodcut relief printmaking
  • Multi-media exploration
  • Observational drawing
  • Examination of contemporary printmakers and their practices

3D Studio Experiences areas of discovery:

  • Glass as an art media
  • Learn to use a specific technique called “networking”

Who can take this course? Students must be from Wisconsin. They should be entering their junior or senior year of high school who have at least a 3.0 GPA. Additionally, they will need to be able to provide or access daily transportation to and from the UW-Madison campus.

All participating high school students establish a permanent UW-Madison transcript record and earn official university credit for successful completion of the course!
