About this Course

Our course, Event Planning and Management, gives students an opportunity to learn from our professionals about the practice of event planning. Emphasis on fulfilling one major assignment in theatre performance or production situation such as actor, stage manager, master carpenter, wardrobe master, properties master.  This is an excellent way to gain real experience in preparation for the communications job you pursue after college!

Meet Your Professor

Andy Palmer

Andy Palmer

Professor, Production Coordinator

Andy spent thirteen years working as an Assistant or Associate Production Manager alongside many talented artists at various theatres on the East Coast, including The Hartford Stage, The Clarence Brown Theatre, and The Studio Theatre in Washington, DC. During this time he was a part of more than eighty productions including two world premier musicals, Anastasia and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (2014 Tony Award Winner, Best New Musical), the Pulitzer Prize winning premier of Water by the Spoonful, and too many productions of A Christmas Carol to count. Prior to that he spent time working and being an intern at City Theatre Company – Pittsburgh and The Berkshire Theatre Group.

Andy holds a B.F.A in Production Technology and Management as well as a Masters in Arts Management both from Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, PA.  (source)
