Andrea Harris

Dance Historian and Certified Movement Analyst

Andrea Harris, MFA, PhD, is a dance historian and Certified Movement Analyst. Her essays have appeared in Dance Chronicle, Performing Arts Resources, Discourses in Dance, Avant-Garde Performance and Material Exchange, Interrogating America through Theatre and Performance, and Il futurismo nelle avanguardie. She is also the editor of Before, Between, Beyond, the most recent collection of dance historian Sally Banes’s writings. Her current book, which explores the development of an “American” ballet from the 1930s-1950s, is forthcoming from Oxford University Press. Before coming to Madison, Dr. Harris taught at Texas Christian University, the University of Oklahoma, Sam Houston State University, and the Universidad de las Américas Puebla. Her performance credits include the Martha Graham Dance Company, Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth, and Li Chiao-Ping Dance. (Source)
