3 credits. Selection, evaluation, and use of instructional media; emphasis on instructional materials. Prerequisite: Graduate status.
603 Local Design and Production of Electronic Instructional Materials
3 credits. Introduction to instructional design, production and evaluation of computer-based instructional materials. Prerequisite: Graduate status.
605 Introduction to Video Production for Education
3 credits. Prerequisite: C&I 600 or C&I 603 or consent of instructor.
606 Critical Educational Practice on the Internet
2-3 credits. Utilization of internet sites and sources in instructional settings; lab experience; critical review of sites and electronic network literature. Prerequisite: Graduate status.
607 Educational Media, Representation and the Construction of Knowledge
3 credits. Theories and critiques of representation and how they relate to production of educational media, and to curriculum and pedagogy using film, video, and multimedia; problems and issues associated with representational practices and the social construction of knowledge. Prerequisite: C&I 600 or consent of instructor.
614 Instructional Computing in Schools II
3 credits. Instructional software/courseware and computer utility programs are examined as instructional aids. Prerequisite: Junior status, C&I 514 or consent of instructor.

3 credits. Organizing for instructional design in educational institutions at various levels such as local school, county, district, college, and university systems. Field work related to university outreach programs.
701 A Critical Analysis of the Use of Computers in the Curriculum
3 credits. A theoretical framework for analyzing the role of computers, and of interactive computer-based instructional media, in the curriculum. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
702 Curriculum Development in a Desktop Computer Environment
3 credits. Combines research from curriculum theory, instructional design, and instructional text design in order to explore alternative possibilities for designing curricular materials in a desktop computer environment. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
703 Theories and Models of Instructional Systems Design
3 credits. An examination of the major instructional design models and their theoretical, empirical, historical, and philosophical foundations in technology and media. Prerequisite: C&I 600 or C&I 603 or an equivalent course.
800 Issues in Educational Communication Technologies
3 credits. Comprehensive and critical analysis of the major theoretical and methodological debates which have characterized the field; their historical and philosophical origins and their relation to changes in technologies designed for purposes of instruction. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
801 Interactive Media and Computers in the Curriculum
3 credits. Theory and practice of designing, developing, and implementing computer courseware for the classroom, including interactive video and instructional computer-based media. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
900 Seminar in Educational Technology
2-3 credits. Survey and critical analysis of selected research and other literature in the major divisions of the field, with emphasis according to individual interest. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
