What are the goals of the ECT Master's degree program?
- The program will familiarize students with current theory and issues in educational and interactive educational technologies.
- The program will familiarize students with the professional literature published in the broad area of educational communications and technology.
- The program will familiarize students with the critical analysis of design, production, evaluation, and use of educational media messages in the schools and society.
- The program will develop the ability of the students to identify a significant educational problem, to investigate that problem and report the results of that investigation in a scholarly paper.
What are the goals of the ECT Ph.D. program?
- The program will develop the abilities necessary to participate in scholarly inquiry and publication in concert with the international community of scholars working to improve the area of educational communications and interactive educational technologies through research and theory building.
- The program will prepare scholars in the critical analysis of design, production, evaluation and use of educational media messages in the schools and society.
- The program will develop students who assume positions of leadership in professional organizations devoted to the improvement of the area of educational communications and technology and the national and international level.
Are specific courses required of all MA students in ECT? 
- Media Track: C&I 600, 603, 605, 701, 900 or equivalent if transferring from another University.
- Computer Track: C&I 514, 600, 701, 801, 900 or equivalent if transferring from another University.
- 12 credits of Educational Foundations if the incoming graduate student does not have an Education background.
Are specific courses required of all PhD students in ECT?
- Master's Degree courses.
- Minor courses (12 credits of Option A or Option B).
- Statistics (6 credits) or equivalent.
What principles guide individual tailoring of MA study in ECT?
- That the elective, non-ECT courses (9 credits) which a person chooses for their Master's program broadens and deepens his or her self-selected area of Master's-level inquiry.
What principles guide individual tailoring of PhD study in ECT?
- That the Minor area of study (12 credits) which a person chooses for their Doctoral program broadens and deepens his or her area of dissertation research.
- That the self-selected area of dissertation research which a person chooses contains a critical/cultural focus.
- That students have two courses which help them develop a solid group of research methodologies.
